April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect and to promote the social and emotional wellbeing of children and families.
The Mono County Child Abuse Prevention Council leads local awareness and prevention efforts throughout the year, with a focused community campaign each April. Activities may include public events, awareness displays, trainings, outreach campaigns, and opportunities for residents and organizations to show their support for children and families.
The blue pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention. Representing the bright future every child deserves, pinwheel displays and awareness materials are shared throughout Mono County each April.
Details about this year’s Child Abuse Prevention Month activities will be posted here as they are confirmed.
It Takes a Community
Preventing child abuse and neglect is a shared responsibility. By strengthening families, increasing access to resources, and building connected communities, we can help ensure all children grow up safe, supported, and valued.
